Introducing Britt Nicole

What do Brittany Waddell and Britt Nicole have in common? Since they’re the same person, the answer is everything!

“The record label was having problems marketing me as another pop Britney, and my hair was even blond then,” Britt says. “The label didn’t want people to be turned off by my name and not give my music a chance.”

In an attempt to not be known as just another pop singer named Britney, Britt chose to use her nickname and middle name. And although she may share the same-sounding first name as another famous Britney, Britt’s message is far different!

This 22-year-old North Carolina native is bringing her message of hope and acceptance to a national audience with the release of her debut album, Say It. Britt describes her music as “really fun, but it has a message at the same time. Kids can relate to it, and it doesn’t feel condemning. It’s said in a fresh way.”

So what exactly is Britt’s album saying? Britt’s first single is “You,” a song about coming back to God as her first love.

“I was at a place where I was looking for happiness everywhere but where I knew it was,” Britt says. “There’s one place you’re always going to find satisfaction. There’s also a song called ‘World that Breaks’ that’s about how God sent His Son for a world that breaks. He’s the answer.”

The Words to Say
Britt says God called her into ministry at 17, but her response was, “I’m 17 years old, what do I have to share?” But God proved faithful in developing His message in Britt’s life.

“There were a lot of things God had to do in my heart before He put me at a national level,” she explains. Learning to truly forgive her parents for their divorce was part of what God taught Britt, along with finding love and acceptance in God, not in other relationships.

When it came time to record an album, Britt prayed that God would reveal specific topics that she should write about for her debut. The result is a mix of upbeat, pop-rock anthems that address issues directly affecting Britt’s generation. Cutting, divorce, rejection, hope and friendship all find their way into the lyrics, brought to life by Britt’s larger-than-life voice.

“Hope and restoration,” Britt says, is the theme of her album. “I see a lot of broken people when I’m out at my concerts. I see teenagers who are hurting, and, more than anything, they just need to be loved. That’s what I want to be for them; I want them to feel accepted when they come to my table [for an autograph]. I want them to know there’s hope in Jesus.”
