The Closer events were started by Susie Shellenberger and Kathy Gowler. The more Susie ministers to moms and teen girls, the more she’s realizing the need and desire they both have to draw closer together.

“Many girls want to be closer to their moms—they just don't know how. And most moms will do whatever it takes to get closer to their daughters—they're just not clear on how to do that,” Susie says. “Closer: Moms and Daughters is an event that accomplishes this need. Everything that happens is geared to drawing mom and daughter closer to God and closer to each other.”

Focus is excited to work with Closer on these important events. We believe it’s an important part of our mission: to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible and to accomplish that objective by helping to preserve the family.
