La Glamour—How to Avoid Smudges and Smears

eyeliner I have an eyeliner dilemma. The pencil smudges during the day, and the liquid liner smears from wetness (such as PMS tears) around my eyes. What should I do?
You might need to say goodbye to both the waxy pencil and the non-waterproof liquid. I’ve recently discovered Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner by Bobbi Brown. The award winning formula glides on smooth then quickly dries into a water-resistant dream.

It’s best applied with the tip of Bobbi’s Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush. Available in a variety of tones such as violet, espresso, indigo, sapphire shimmer and plum, these cool-looking colors won’t appear overdone. Look for this product at fine department stores.

CurlsMy head is covered with ringlets that I don’t like. Help!
Try relaxing the ringlets with a texture-softening product. This helps with manageability and frizz. TIGI has an entire line for curly hair called Curls Rock. Using Curl Amplifier or Curl Booster every day gives great results.

For styling, try what my two favorite curly-haired friends do (recording artist Jeni Varnadeau and Brio Girl 2000 Lisa Velthouse). With a 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch barreled curling iron in hand, select a portion of a ringlet. Start curling at the top of the ringlet by holding the iron in place near your scalp and wrapping the hair around the iron. Hold five to 10 seconds and release. You’ll create various sized ringlets, some looser looking than your natural ones, giving you a new look.

Note: It’s hard to style curly hair if you don’t have a cut that works for curly hair. Get your hair cut by someone who has curly hair, too. She’ll usually understand how best to thin and/or layer curly hair so it doesn’t end up looking like a mushroom-head.

I constantly get food stuck in my braces. What can I do?
If forceful swishing and fancy tongue maneuvers aren’t working, try a cool little devise called an Interdental Pick. It’s exactly what you need. This embarrassment-saving tool is curved to make getting into braces-spaces much easier. Because it’s available in travel size, it’s the perfect fit for your purse, pocket or backpack. Pick one up at Wal-Mart.

StephanieStephanie Smith, new artist with Gotee Records, speaks out:
“The beauty industry sets an unattainable standard for teen girls. Between airbrushing, PhotoShopping and immodest advertising, there’s not a whole lot of room for ‘real life.’ You and I both have to understand it for what it is: 90 percent fake!"
