Memory Keeper: A Journal and Scrapbook in One

A journal entry every day of the year and a clutter free desk, these are two goals you can make and keep with the help of a Memory Keeper. This simple craft project can be made in five easy steps with a calendar, pocket folders and a binder.

It's easy to jot down one calendar-square memory a day. There's room for "BarlowGirl concert at church," "Answered prayer with an A on my math test" or "Lost the soccer match but played a great game." Just a short note a day can keep the memories fresh and fun.

The two-pocket folders are great storage for little things like can't-toss notes from friends, snapshots or movie ticket stubs. Notebook-size items like a certificate for "Camp Swampy Swimmer of the Year" or winning English essays can be punched and included in the binder.

friends What You Need:
* binder, 2 inches or larger
* 6 two-pocket folders
* calendar
* three-hole punch
* ruler
* marker
* pen

What to Do:
1. To shorten the two-pocket folders use the ruler to make a mark at 11 inches on the folder's top left and top right. Use the two marks and the ruler to draw a line. Cut across the line.

2. Label the folders January/February, March/ April, May/June, July/August, September/October and November/December.

3. Remove the calendar pages from the calendar.

4. Punch holes in the top of the calendar pages and in the creased side of the two-pocket folders, taking extra care that the bottom of each folder lines up straight against the punch.

5. Insert the calendar pages and the folders into the binder, snap the rings shut. Clip the pen onto a folder, and your Memory Keeper is ready to use.
