Five Fun (and Cheap) Gifts For Friends
by Stacey A. Johnson
You and your friends usually exchange gifts for
birthdays.
Great!
But
you’re short on cash. Check out these fun and
inexpensive gift ideas that’ll
be sure to let them know they’re loved.
1. Signature Stationary
Use stamps, stencils, stickers and your own creativity
to make an original package of paper, envelopes and
notepads. Friends will love your unique designs. Find
all the materials you need at a local craft store.
2. Festive Picture Frame
Buy an inexpensive, plastic frame and glue dried
flowers, buttons or ribbons on it. Complete the gift by
putting a photo of you and your friends in the frame.
3. Batches in Boxes
Start by fixing a batch of cookies, brownies
or Rice Krispie treats. Next, find unusual containers to
put them in. Look for baskets, different shaped boxes or
unique items you can decorate. Garage sales are great
places to find fun storage containers. When the cookies
are gone, the container can be used for something
else.
4. Personalized Calendar
If you have a good computer system, you might try
making calendars. Most word processing programs
come with some kind of a calendar in them. You can
add clip art, type in birthdays and important dates, and
even scan pictures if you have a scanner. Calendars
make great presents all year long.
5. Makeover Magic
Are you good at putting together makeup colors and
styling hair? Why not give personal makeover
certificates good for a day of your services: hair, nails,
makeup — the works! You could schedule all your
friends for a certain day and make it a party.
These ideas should get you started in the area of gift
making and giving. You don’t have to spend all your
spare cash to give great gifts. Whatever you do, have
fun and let your creativity make it happen.
